The Ordinary Sunscreen Review| Dr Dray
Today I review The Ordinary Mineral Sunscreen and apply it on camera for you to see how it goes on.
Reference for how much sunscreen to apply: https://bit.ly/2lOFofq
💜One crown-shaped bottle cap lid holds 3.3 grams (3,300mg) sunscreen. Sunscreen must be applied at 2mg/cm2 surface area to reach the SPF on the label.
💜For the face and neck:
The face and neck are less than 9% body surface area (about 685cm2). You need 1.37g (1,370mg) sunscreen, which is about half a bottle cap full, and is the amount I used in this video.

the white cast was shocking initially. however, about 10 minutes into the video, it looks more nature other than around the hairlines. this amount of shine is too much even for me who prefers glowy skin, but some translucent powder should take care of that. should try
I ordered both spf 30 and spf 15 since i read the reviews and some said that the spf 15 doesn't give a white cast. I was planning on mixing them, is that a bad idea? I live at the arctic circle so the uv scale is at 4 at best. Also curious if this works with foundation, then i don't mind the white cast, i am fully prepaid to cover this with it. I don't want to buy very expensive sunscreen since i only need it like 9 months of the year because i don't use sunscreen when we have polar nights, no need because the sun is never up mid winter
😂😂😂
Thanks God I almost buy this, thank you Dr.Dray!
Wanted to like this one… but my eyes watered all day and it broke me out after 2 days.
My make up went well on top ofvit though… I use Pavez.
wasnt that too much, ma'am??
I received a sample of Laser Away's sunscreen & it was the whitest sunscreen I've ever seen.
😱
Does anyone know what percentage zinc and titanium dioxide this sunscreen contains? Thank you for reviewing Dr. Dray! I would love to hear your thoughts on the Attitude brand mineral sunscreen in the future.
How did this get past testing?!!!
How about layering the sunscreen? Anything you put a glob of on your skin is going to look crazy. You should try different methods. No disrespect but sometimes I think you set certain products up for failure while you upsell certain products that have very questionable ingredients, imho.
the Attitude from iHerb has been discontinued 🙁
Can you do a review of the Ordinary line? They just started carrying it again at Sephora.
I wish they used nano particles because that would of took some of that white cast away
I am sure this does it's job, but I dont want to look like a clown…
Hi Dr. Dray, I tend to mix my chemical sunscreen with a mineral sunscreen (varying between 50-70% mineral, the rest chemical) which helps with the white cast and also gives me peace of mind that my sunscreen is actually strong enough. But is it really? Or am I just diluting the mineral sunblock?
Can't you just keep rubbing it in? I have this sunscreen and I just rub it in until the whitecast is gone, and I don't feel like I'm left with s heavy feeling on my skin. I've been pretty happy with it.
I applied it too light for sure with SPF 30 and got sunburned in autumn sun while being in direct autumn sun two times for 30 minutes. Thanks for your other recommendations 👍
13:53 no whitecast, and non-nano is almost an impossible combination. Do note that in the US there is no definition for nano particles and brands may claim what they want on sunscreen products. Micronized for example is not officialy defined. And another example, Paula's Choice claims they offer non-nano sunscreens, however in Europe the same products do say they use nano particles. It all depends on the definition of nano particles, which is also different between AUS and the EU.
Shiseido has a sunscreen remover for their high SPF you could probably look into a similar product. If you wear makeup then putting a dark foundation might help.
Dang I’ve never applied sunscreen correctly. By this logic the Mario Badescu bottle of sunscreen would only last me about a week!
I don't mind the white cast, makes me look paler and I like that look so it kind of doubles as a bb creme
With mineral sunscreens I like to rub them between my hands first, this seems to reduce any purple tones for me. But this one is so severe I'm not sure that would help.
Oh wow!! Great for Halloween dress up maybe.
You looked like a geisha girl lol
Thank you for doing this for us 💕
Wow, I was anxious to hear this review. So glad I waited before I bought it. Thanks so much, I do love the ordinary line but I don't need to be casper the ghost either.
CVS actually has an AMAZING zinc and octocrylene based spf 50 that goes for like 6 bucks. I’m a medium deep skin tone and it leaves almost no white cast and it leaves my skin quite moisturized. It’s the white tube with purple lettering!
This is not the worst white cast I’ve seen personally but their claim of ‘no white cast’ is certainly false and they shouldn’t market it that way
Appreciate the honest review. I’m sure everyone does. Bought several sunscreens which I’ve loved secondary to your channel. One disappointment was eltamd UV sport. Ok price. Blends well. Non irritating, water resistant. However, unlike Uv clear, despite multiple attempts it leaves my skin sooo ‘shiny’. It looks like I have put oil on my skin. Will probably give this to my sis (for her kids). So still on the look out for a combination water resistant non shiny sunscreen for my brown skin (my face sweats so much, the non-water resistant last maybe 3 minutes in the sun). Keep up the hard work 🌺
freaky when I go outside with this amount of white cast sunscreen would freak someone out! 😀
Thank you for reviewing… was going to place and order for some Ordinary products and try this. I'm going to skip! thanks again
Yes, please review the attitude sunscreen. Love your videos, thank you so much for all the information you share!
I think you put too much in one time, you should add a little in two or three time to let in absorb! (My suggestion, cause all the physical sunscreen are more white than the chemical sunscreen! The white is normal😊
Is there a huge difference between face sunscreen and body sunscreens? I bought the +60spf Neutragena sunscreen, but it says nothing about it being for the face. It's pretty thick, but I've been using it after applying an SA moisturizer.
I'm enjoying the background music with every video more and more.. Edit: Any opinion on Dermalogica, anyone? I'm in love with that Super Rich Repair cream ("anti-age/smart age" part has been excluded on purpose😀) and it will ruin my financial backup for the future for sure🙄 But i really adore the occlusive layer on my skin afterwards😍
HEY DOCTOR! May i ask your thoughts about the ordinary niacinamide with zinc?
you need to rub it in more to avoid the white cast…this review is not quite fair
What do you think of Sun Bum baby or Sun Bum mineral?
Wow 👻 !! Was literally going to order this …hmmmm… This may be a hard pass 🤔
uvb vitamin d??? you scare me 😱
Girl, you look almost silver. Good grief that stuff is scary lol
Just saved $10 thanks Dr. Dray! Clown 🤡 makeup is def not the look I am going for 😂
