I have acne prone textured skin! I got the glycolic acid toner, the buffet serum, the Retinoid 2% emulsion, and the AHA and BHA peeling solution. I feel like this has helped my type of skin in such a short amount of time! But I did do my research and watched so many videos to find the best combination of products. The website also stated you should only try 3 products at a time! I got 4 but again I did my research on how they work together!

For Argan Oil… make sure it is USDA Organic, and that it comes with a glass dispenser, preferably a glass dropper. Anything else, like a pump, will cause the oil to putrefy and go rancid.

Our company (www.MadreNature.com) is giving away full size samples (4oz) of Argan Oil. Contact us on our website, and we'll arrange a unit for your evaluation!

I’m way late on watching this video, so here’s my thoughts. I bought The Ordinary initially about 6 months ago because I am trying to be more conscious about my budget and beauty cost monthly, and I may have watched a Wayne Goss video where he talked about the products and thought, eh what the heck. I like them a lot, but I don’t love them. They do the job for the cost, but….
Well, daily I use The Buffet, Hyaluronic Acid 2% plus B, the Granactive Retinoid. About twice a week I trade off the Retinoid for 5% Lipoic Acid. My cleanser and eye cream tend to be whatever I’ve gotten in boxy charm or what I’ve gotten a coupon for at Ulta or Sephora. My skin looks fine, it’s not broken out, it’s hydrated, and I’m not drastically aging more – I’m almost 40 as well and have rosacea, and have the weird skin you. get 20 years after using Accutane. But does it look it’s best? No. For instance, I got a Sunday Riley Lactic Acid Treatment Sample (I think it was lactic acid), and I swear to God my forehead wrinkles were lessened overnight to the point that my coworkers asked if my mom treated me to Botox.
So, are the products fine? Yep. Are they magic and will I keep using them when my kids are finally out of daycare and my monthly splurge money is bigger? Probably not. 🤭

I've used granactive retinol, azelaic and alpha lipolic acids. Had 27-years-old combo oily dry skin with cyctic acnes. I mix granactive retinol with cerave night serum and put alpha lipolic acid mixed with vitamin a and e above a serum with hyaluronic acid and vitamin c twice a week. My other rutine is from cerave. I have used it for 1,5 month and did see the results. My acne started to clean out(like there were some pores appearing, and i could get all the dirt out by softly touching the acne). Skin became plumpy and i don't see any wrinkles but i made my botox 5 month ago and it's a long time, usually i start notice them in 3 month. Skin became normal/dry.

As a very dry skin asthmatic, I really appreciate you commenting on the smells.:) I might want to try either of the oils, and I'm about to try the primer once my order arrives. Several stores seem to now carry The Ordinary.

That’s so disappointing to hear. I can’t afford high end products. Right now I’m just using Neutrogena retinol, and a Neostrata bio serum then my Olay whip as my moisturizer. And that’s actually a bit more than I can afford. I was going to flip to this line , thinking I could get everything I needed at a price I can afford.

Did you say what type of skin you have. You didn't say whether it was dry, mature, oil acne prone etc. or what your area of concern you were to then conclude the products didn't make a difference to your skin. Did you buy the products and how did you know what products to buy. I got 2 products at the store and told the girl my concerns and started using it a few days ago. Good review but would be helpful to know what type of skin you have and what concerns you were targetting.

I personally love the ordinary, I ordered some stuff after watching multiple YouTube videos and reading a bunch of articles about what could and couldn’t be missed. I started 2 weeks ago and really took the time introducing one product every 4-5 days and watching my skin. I’m 35, never had any procedures or Botox etc done. I was a cleanse moisturize exfoliate when I remember . Now I do the vitamin c (12% derivative) with moisturizing factors in the am (followed by sunblock and make up) and at night I alternate between night 1. Glycolic toner, Retinoid 2%, buffet, and moisturizer mixed with a bit of the rose hop oil; and night 2. Lactic acid 5%, buffet, and moisturizer mixed with that same oil.
I cannot even describe how much better and more beautiful and radiant my skin is looking, and it’s only been 2 weeks!!!! Their products are truly amazing you just need to spend some time on research and as with any company there are hits and misses. So far mine have been all hits, and I’m truly looking forward to what my skin will look like in 2-3 months. 😊 btw love your channel and reviews, you are a breath of fresh air in YouTube and I really enjoy your content 😘

I use lactic acid/hyalauronic acid after cleansing. After it sits about 10 min, I then layer in the Buffett, which is my HG. After letting that sit a few minutes, I moisturize with Lush’s vanishing Cream. This regimen has cleared acne and age spots, Miraculously! Every other night, I’ll use the 2% retinoid emulsion and when I wake up, my skin looks soft, plump, more radiant and clears up my dark spots-and reduces Pore size.

I'm sorry it didnt work for you. I love The Ordinary! It has changed my skin! I use AHA/BHA every Monday and Thursday night. I use the Retinoid 2% every Wednesday evening and the Vitamin C Suspention overnight that I dont use the other two. That is the only think that changes, everything else stays the same. I stat with a precleanse to remove makeup, them cleanse my skin. Following that I do my treatment (that changes) then I do the Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid, them my moisturizer and the Ordinary's Rose Hip Oil. In the morning, I use a Bioderma, the ordinary's Glycolic Acid, moisturizer, and sunscreen before applying my makeup.
I have done TONS of research to figure out which ones I can layer and which ones I cant.
I LOVE my skincare routine now! I LOVE THE ORDINARY!

I've had pretty good luck. I'm finishing up my 1% retinol in squalane. I'm moving to the 2% next. I tried the rosehip oil but it's too heavy for my skin. I'm loving the results.

I was using Paula’s Choice (I love it) but was bankrupting me, ran out so fast, and then not that easy to get in Europe, also my skin is not that delicate, so finally we have access to The Ordinary in Belgium and i decided to give a try, and has been now a month, I still have a lot if product, and happily saying my skin feels amazing, hydrated, i don’t have so many wrinkles but i see a good reaction with this brand , what i do in order to not making my routine so long, I saw a blog with an British makeup artist and he told you can mix the drops (water based with water based / oils based with oils based etc) you put it on your hand mix and the put it like a cream all together. Well works for me and for my wallet.

I have used her info and yes my skin is improving daily ! But it’s personal choice but be very careful ! But I am a registered nurse and I am so very careful ! People please just use products containing active ingredients! By the way you don’t use them all together it’s very specific!
Retinol night never put around your eyes stop at cheek level
    Q10 indeed night and morning
    Buffet night and morning
Alternate vit c and retinol do not use together !
    Hyoluronic acid night and morning
    Matrixil morning
    That’s my regime !
My skin has improved ! Hope this helps !
But do check out Nadine Baggott beauty guru ! She’s amazing !

Hey jen…. heres some crazy info i commented onto someones skin care video….you should make a video about stat!
YOU KNOW THAT MOISTURIZERS DONT ACTUALLY HYDRATE THE SKIN NOTHING PUTS MOISTURE INTO THE MANY LAYERS OF OUR SKIN, ALL IT DOES IS PUT A BARRIER ONTOP OF YOUR SKIN WHICH PREVENTS TRANSDERMAL h20 LOSS. THATS WHY MOISTURIZERS AND OILS GO ONTOP OF ALL THE REST OF THE SKIN CARE AND IS THE LAST STEP IN THE SKINCARE ROUTINE BECAUSE ITS THICKNESS HELPS THE PRODUCTS UNDER IT EMULSIFY AND HOLD IT ALL ONTO YOUR SKIN PREVENTING MOISTURE LOSS FROM THE SKIN. ….BUT NOTHING WE PUT ON OUR SKIN CAN PENETRATE ANY OF THE LAYERS OF SKIN EXCEPT RETINOL. THATS WHY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY DERMATOLOGISTS HAVE ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT CLEANING THE FACE, APPLYING RETINOL AND ALSO OFCOURSE THE SUNSCREEN ARE THE ONLY 3 THINGS THAT ACTUALLY WORK AND MAKE DIFFERENCES IN THE SKIN. ALL THE OTHER MUMBO JUMBO IS MARKETING TACTICS AND SCHEMES TO LURE US INTO PURCHASING. BUT NOTHING WILL MOISTURIZE OUR SKIN. EVEN HYALURONIC ACID DOESN'T MOISTURIZE THE SKIN. THERES NOT ONE STUDY SHOWING THAT TOPICAL HA CAN DO ANYTHING TOPICALLY. THE ONLY WAY WE ABSORB IT IS BY CONSUMING IT. SO HA IN SKINCARE IS ALSO BULLSHIT. SORRY TO BREAK ALL YALL HEARTS BUT YOUR WASTING YOUR MONEY. AND THIS DOUBLE CLEANSE WORKS GREAT FOR REMOVING MAKEUP IITS SIMPLE OIL ATTRACTS OIL BUT NOTHINGS GETTING ABSORBED INTO YOUR SKIN MAKING IT MOISTURIZED. SO ALL THESE DAM YOU TUBERS BE LYING TO US. THEY KNOW THE TRUTH BUT THEY WANA SELL SHIT TO US SO THEY LIE.

I'm using Alpha Arbutin 2% +HA day and night to reduce my dark spots on my chic. It's about two month and I found it does work for me. I also use Niacinamide 10% +Zinc 1% at night. I like it because it reduces congestion and blemishes. But I didn't use it every night. I alternated Nicacinamide with my Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM or other acid. I hope you can find the product that works for you.

I do think you tried too much though – the retinol needs to be eased into the skincare regime as it is very strong, as does the lactic acid and you shouldn't use those two together. I would have alternated the lactic acid and the retinol! I also think your skin looks a lot brighter in the second photo 🙂

TO products are the only ones that sorted out my cystic acne. I would not be without them – I stopped using the hyaluronic acid a few weeks ago and my skin looked awful without it. Although I totally agree that their website is confusing, I've emailed multiple times with my specific skincare goals and skin type and they've sent me personalised regimens that work amazingly. This is advertised on their website as something they provide too, that wasn't just a one off for me. I'm really sad that you didn't have a good experience with the products because they have saved my skin!

    July 19, 2019 at 5:58 pm
  • Lauren Foster Reply

I'm always confused when people are put off by the ordinary's use of scientific terms. You say, that the website is not user friendly and that you would need to know something about dermatology to understand how to use the products….Shouldn't you WANT to know what you put on your face? On a chemical/scientific level??? Shouldn't you want to research a product before slathering it on your face? Or should we just all spend our dollars based on hype beast products? When you walk into a store and pick up a product, shouldnt you WANT to read the ingredients and feel good knowing you know at least some of them…

The rosehip seed oil is great for my super dry skin. It's less money and seems to be more effective than what I was getting on Amazon. The AHA 30%-BHA 2% Peeling solution got rid of blackheads on my nose and shrank my pores. I was able to get more of an idea of what products to try from their onsite reviews rather than from their product descriptions. I like to do the AHA/BHA 2x a week and I do the rosehip oil every morning and night, and at night I follow that with Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. It's really helped get rid of the flakes, blackheads and tightness. Maybe give these products another go with 2 or 3 targeted items instead of a large assortment.

As for Paula Begoun and her products, I would never buy anything from her. She was never an expert, a dermatologist, a chemist or an aesthetician. She was a makeup counter worker who got fired for refusing to do her job– sell the products. She started off as a consumer advocate trashing nearly everything in the cosmetics industry, and then started selling her own skincare. You don't get to pretend you're on my side by telling me everything the industry is doing is an ineffective rip off and then do the same thing yourself.
