Watching all your videos and you are so right! Women should only be "trees" to their own children, not to other women especially when no one is looking out for you.

I feel like I was born as a female to BE A FEMALE. I love skirts and thigh high socks and pretty bows or pins in my hair, I like using the softness and the high pitch in my voice, I love to twirl and smile and giggle, I love my femininity as it is. I get called childish but that’s just how my femininity presents itself, in that sweet innocent way. Growing up my mom was very masculine and would literally get angry with me for wanting to wear a skirt every day.

I love this!! I have to say since I was a little girl I've always been jealous of many dark skinned girls beautiful features. I have always found them so gorgeous, jealous not in a bad way, just admire the stunning features etc. I agree about your statements of femininity! I hate when I see black women as well as asian women- heck, NON white women unsexified and unfeminized (aka rough, very funny, dorky, not sexy, not the object of affection) I see this in many films primarily "pitch perfect". Notice how not only non white women, but non American women in that movie are all weirdo psychopaths lol it too much XD

This picture makes me think of "Maaaaaamy" !!😤
Femininity for Black women can not be defined by Eurocentric ideologies. Africa produced all types of women. And women defined what is for women. But acting like a dummy or aloof or down playing your intelligence for the ego of a man is not our original way. So what is feminine? Acting like a white woman? Acting like an Asian woman? Femininity is within the individual woman.

Yea I’m not into this photo…I’m a brown skin overweight woman as well and I do embrace my femininity and nothing about me is masculine and I could never put myself in this situation…but honestly I feel like some insecure slimmer or lighter women try to latch onto us to try and make themselves feel like the center of attention

3:35 how can we think nothing of it. With our history and what is happening in our present day, I don't understand how they could be so blinded as not to see what's really happening. We need more self respect and self love. I don't think any self respecting black woman would ever do any of the photo shoot like any of the ones you've shown.

She chose to look out of place in this photo. Anyone can be feminine(and not weak) But I have heard that some women think because there black or dark they are looked at as masculine. It's what you feel. I've never felt that way or given that appearance of manly. I think some women need to get it out of there mind that people view them This way and not care what the heck they think,,cus I would be like f what u think or feel and still wear my dress and switch away.

Nothing wrong with being a flower or a tree IF that's what YOU want to be. Yes this picture is a little sad but everyone is not the same. There are a thousand ways to be a woman and just because her view isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean she's wrong or less than. We shouldn't be shaming her and telling her to be soft if she doesn't want to be.

I'm gonna say that it looked like the white women were seeking comfort from her. She is the rock. They taking strength from her. I see her being nurturing. Kinda just stumbled on here so gonna just drop my first impression without knowing any better. She look like a black Madonna. Like those Goddesses figures from long ago ancient times. She's beautiful. She looks real. If anything she look weary of the weight. Like she would rather not be in that position.
Also, I'm a dark skinned woman not from America so maybe I'm bringing some different cultural perspective.

Edit: Just listened to the whole video. Very interesting. Yup gonna stick with that first impression.
It is nice to not always have to be the tree everyone leans on.

The issue I had with this was the age old stereotype of the black woman as the mammy with white and light skinned women leaning on her physically and figuratively. I foolishly went out with 2 white coworkers one night and they told me at the bar that they wanted me there to "check guys who were creeps" and to " protect their virtue – hee, hee." So naturally I told them my cat was sick and I had to leave. They both know I don't have a cat. Oh well.

Any time the media uses dark-skinned or non-light-skin back women, they always use the most unattractive looking ones to impose the idea that ALL BLACK WOMEN in general are ghetto and masculine. It's never a surprise when I come across a music video or movie where the light-skinned or white women is the beautiful, delicate, desirable lover and the black women (typically an overweight, badly dressed female) is the ghetto ex-girlfriend trying to ruin the relationship. They TRY to make black women look bad on purpose. There have always been gorgeous, healthy, sexy, beautiful, and intelligent black women, BUT, of course, the media will always use the most "unattractive" of black females when comparing them to females of other races.

She looks like the mammie surrounded by the women she takes care of. Or, it looks like they are loving their Wet Nurse. She looks like she could be related to Hattie Mc Daniels ( who I thought was pretty ).

@chrissy i do feel that what you've said is an issue, i love being feminine but I'm not always treated that way because people find me intimidating or masculine. Despite the fact that I've never given off those vibes. However i feel that this wasn't the right picture to portray this. All I'm seeing in the comments is negativity from people who don't even support her as an artist. She is really more woke than you give her credit for

you're looking too far into this and from the wrong perspective so u need to question how u as a black woman view yourself. I'm not light or dark skinned but I'll tell you this this photo was made for any black woman all black women, we are the foundation these light women or white women she is eluding to the fact that they are fragile damensels in distress and thats the way society views them. Idk if you've ever seen the color purple when Oprah owner let her spend time with her family for the holiday but she couldn't bkuz the white woman was lost n didn't know how to do anything without her that is what this picture says to me. The tru insecure woman is the white woman and the fair woman especially the fair woman but the tru lost woman is the original 1 the brown woman the dark woman just like her male counterparts mentally they r both still on the plantation n they keep u there by teaching u in school that you're a slave and ur ppl have done nuthin more but b subservient when in reality we r the tree we r the creators we dont come from the leaves they come from us in short ask yourself if ur truly self aware kuz u seem lost as much as u think this girl is

You don't like light skinned black women , but I understand . This is how they are drawn into lesbianism because all of us black women are told specifically that we aren't feminine . The masculine energy needs to be present . That is why we are having this challenge
