I layer my sunscreen with LaRoche-Posay Anthelios AOX Daily antioxidant serum with SPF 50 then use Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB cream with SPF 40. I don't often think about my arms and hands which you have now made me realize I need to address. I like the LaRoche Posay line of Suncreen. Its available at CVS and Ulta it absorbs quickly and is unscented.
I'm allergic to chemical sunscreen so I am very limited , with that said I use cliniques city block sheer spf 25 it is tinted and works very well under foundation they also have an spf 40
If you need to reaply try a powder over your makeup
And Dr Dray is just obsessive please dont worry so much
I have also seen that the equate sunscreen has gotten great reviews. This would be a good all over sunscreen with a good high spf.
Heather….I think you are going to need therapy for this SPF worrying you're doing! ๐
I use the Korean brand Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Spf 50. Its a mineral sunscreen and works well under makeup. I use the It Cosmetics CC cream to layer my sunscreen to insure Iโm getting plenty of protection. I reapply with the Supergoop setting spray
Lol. Iโm commenting at the beginning because I could say exactly the same thing about becoming obsessed with sunscreen! And the anxiety about not reapplying enough! I also have sensitive skin and have been using tretinoin, and it is really true that my skin burns more easily now. Itโs kinda scary! Hence the sunscreen anxiety, haha.
As for sunscreens that play well with makeup, some are probably just the wrong texture overall, but Iโm convinced that individual skin chemistry affects how sunscreen interacts with foundation. Have you found HotandFlashy here on YouTube? She does sunscreen test videos of a dozen in one video. She recommends Hydropeptide Solar Defense and Australian Gold mineral for face. I have those and prefer them mixed together rather than either by themselves. However, on my face they are better than most for foundation wear, but still cause my foundation to break up (particularly Tarte Amazonian clay Iโve been using lately for the pale yellow shade). Iโve found Paulaโs Choice Resist Super-light Daily Wrinkle Defense Spf 30. That works very well for me under various foundations and it has a tiny bit of coverage from the tint so some days I can use it with just under eye concealer and powder. And I did just pat a little of it (not as much as Dr Dray!) over foundation yesterday afternoon.
To your sisterโs point about the chemicals, all the ones I mentioned are mineral (only zinc and titanium dioxide) not all the chemicals.
Watch Hot & Flashy. Angie just did her yearly sunscreen review for under make up.
To reapply I use a powder with sunscreen.
I just watched Beauddictionโs video on sunscreen. She suggested a makeup setting spray with spf. It is called Zinc It Over and you can buy it from Seriously Fab. It has great reviews. Hope this helps. Love your videos! โค๏ธ
If your NOT out in the sun ALL DAY you shouldn't have to reapply it.
Find a setting spray that has a good spf in it that you like. You can re-apply throughout the day.
Ok, for throughout the day. Try some mineral sunscreen powder. Thereโs lots of different brands. They come in a cool tube with attached brush you can throw in your purse.
Heather – go buy La Roche-Posay Athelios Dry Touch Sunscreen immediately! I got mine at Target. Itโs like 50 or 60 and dries silky smooth super fast. I donโt wear a lot of makeup but when I do I reach for this. It really feels amazing, almost like a primer on its own.
I like the Paula choice sunscreen. I got the one for normal combination skin and it went on well was thin formula and wore nicely under makeup. I am now using sheseido wet force face and body and like that too. I got it at tj Maxx just make sure your checking expiration date before buying. You maybe better with mineral sunscreen. Most find that less irritating. Oxybenzone is a common irritant for a lot of people in chemical sunscreens. Banana boat tends to have fragrance added to their products. I've gotten much better about wearing sunscreen daily basis and I use the super goop setting spray if I go out at lunch. Trying to be better about that too. I watch Dr Dray too and learned so much from her
I use Dr. Jart+ Beauty Balm with spf 45. It gives pretty good coverage on its own but also plays well with my foundation. If I am going to be in a situation where I have to reapply, I wear it alone. I also love the coverage of Shiseido Sports BB but it makes me break out. I also really like Supergoop 's Unseen Sunscreen. If you really love your sunscreen, you should try pairing it with a different foundation. If the sunscreen is water-based, your foundation should be as well.
First of all …. The Sun does not rise and shine in Dr Dray…. In my opinion … if you would just give it a minute and think…. she really goes over board with a lot of her advice …. So Sorry if I have offended her followers …. However … again my opinion …! … Angie from Hot and Flashy maybe a month ago recommended P:REMw/SPF50 … I ordered and received it and have used it….. It works really well under makeup ….. I also use a primer…. AND I Do Not worry about reapplying sunscreen….. I welcome the vitamin D … HeeHee….There are powders that you can buy with sunscreen… Holly…. I totally agree with you ….. Also Coola Primerw/SPF30 is another really good product and it is a clear gel ….. I have not watched the latest video by Angie … I will do that after this one…. Hugs …… Shirlene
Hmm… I would think you need to find a daytime moisturizer that you like with SPF. Then a foundation with SPF should help. The MK daydream has SPF…. If you are not in and out of the pool it shouldn't rub off… But I don't have the answer…. I think sephora sells an SPF in powder form that you can use over makeup. The setting spray that Holly showed seems like a great option. How about a hat ๐
Living for 22:02 on repeat LOL OK first of all FirePants LOL…Dr. Dray is good but there are other dermatologists LOL…mine for example doesn't go this bananas over applying sunscreen like she does…she's not the worlds authority so don't let it drive you so crazy. IRL I don't think everybody is going to go ham on sunscreen like she does … you are just cracking me up BUT I know the struggle is real ๐ I agree with Holly a bit here you can't obsess like this you are going to go crazIER than you are right now GF! Use a powder SPF to touch up…be aware the supergoop spray's first ingredient is alcohol and it's spotty protection. I'm no authority but I use the Shiseido Wetforce 50+ in Fair either alone or you can wear it under your makeup and then when it's time to reapply use a powder mineral sunscreen throughout the day over your makeup. I've been using Physicians Formula one this week and it's not been making my makeup look awful at all. Angie from Hot n Flashy just did a video on Sunscreens today also guys ๐ xoxo Mary
What about adding a powder sunscreen throughout the day? I know lots of the It Cosmetics products have physical sunscreens. My daughter has a severe allergy to any chemical sunscreen while being ridiculously fair and burning quickly. She has a similar reaction to chemical sunscreens that you had in the pool. I have to use products with only titanium dioxide or zinc oxide on her. My guess is that you might have a similar allergy to a chemical sunscreen. I would research how physical vs chemical sunscreens work- chemical sunscreens have lots of risks. Our pediatrician and her dermatologist have instructed us only to use physical sunscreens because they aren't absorbed into the skin. I use the It CC cream (fair and light mixed is my perfect shade) when I know that I'll be in the sun a lot. I've also mixed them in with other foundations when I want that protection but need a bit of a different finish. Love your videos and have learned so much!
Have you ask Dr Dray? She got back to me fairly quickly when I asked her a question. I know theyโre products for this but I canโt remember the name. You should be able to find a YT video on this. I know one of the products is a powder. Anyway search YouTube for it and ask Dr Dray, she will answer. I just saw Angie Hot and Flashy has a video up on this very subject. Itโs a video she put up today and I trust her more than Dr Dray because she wears makeup. Good luck.
Hotandflashy Angie just posted her mineral sunscreen video- ya know that girl is thorough! I use (1/4 tsp) Obagi Sun Shield under my foundation (I am 51, as dry as the Sahara and can't use chemical spf) If I'm out in the sun, then I reapply using a tinted powder mineral sunscreen. It works well for me.
Heather! You gotta try l'oreal age perfect hydration oil! Works great under my makeup. It lasts a long time and it absorbs quickly and never interferes with my foundation. In also wear sunglasses and a hat when outside. But seriously the loreal oil is my ride or die sun protection.
HydroPeptide solar defense non-tinted broad spectrum SPF 50 : free of gluten, parabens, phthalates and sulfates. Not tested on animals, scent free. 3% titanium dioxide + 7% zinc oxide, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid
You should try the Elta MD UV Shield! It's not water resistant so don't wear it while sweating or in contact with water. There's a Elta MD Physical Lightly tinted sunscreen which is water resistant to 40 minutes which you might like!
I like Differen moisturizer with 30 spf. Very nice under makeup and oil absorbing.
Heather, I have the IT cosmetics CC cream in light if you want to try it. Itโs a little heavy for me in the summer.
The Supergoop spray burns when I use it, maybe due to the alcohol in it. I think Iโm going to try their spf setting powder. It looks like a portable product I can throw in my purse to reapply
I use the Elta MD UV Physical with tint and had pillage upon first few uses.ย Sooo….I can't remember who's channel mentioned it but I lightly exfoliate in the morning.ย I use the retin A (4 nights a week and Pixi Glow Peel Pads the other 3 nights) and have incorporated https://theordinary.com/product/rdn-niacinamide-10pct-zinc-1pct-30ml?redir=1ย and am finding the flaky is less (but it's early in the experiment).ย I really like Biore UV (https://www.amazon.com/Biore-Watery-Essence-SPF50-1-75oz/dp/B071KDMM42/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1525443669&sr=8-3&keywords=biore+uv+aqua+richย ; I bulk purchase from http://www.yesstyle.com) but I don't use liquid foundation so there's that.ย (I use L'Oreal True Match mineral powder, some days I use some under eye concealer but not everyday).ย I, too, have not found a good way to reapply.ย I try to stick to the shadows when outside LOL).
I love Nivea Sun Protect Water Gel, instant dry down, excellent under makeup, looooong time protection
Iโve tried so many sunscreens over the years leaving my eyes burning and watery. Even if I only use sunscreen on my body the fumes kill my eyes. Not to mention the white cast . I finally found two sunscreens Image Skincare Prevention 50 sunscreen ( yellow and white packaging) and Young Living sunscreen. Pricy but last forever. Both are fabulous on my sensitive skin. No break out, plays perfect with my makeup. Washing all like a breeze. Some sunscreens need a paint thinner to remove. I use moisturizer, sunscreen, glotion in light then Laura Mercier hydrating primer followed by LM foundation power. Iโve used liquid foundation and it works. Btw, I can bring both sunscreens right under eyelashes on top and bottom. Great video ladies.
I do the same as Holly; my SPF is good enough to act as my morning moisturizer and then I use either Clinique or It cosmetics CC cream. I don't fret over re-applying 47 times because I work in a cubicle.
Skin cancer does run in my family (probably a lot like Special) so I also use very long sunscreen gloves while driving as well as carry a parasol whenever I'm outside for more than 2 minutes.
