Did you really say "Dark-skin women the odds are already against you don't be overweight too"
Wow just wow. The odds are against them. That is the problem. Dark women are told there is no room for imperfection because they are dark. They need to say on point at all times.

I agree with some of this; however, IMO we (the black community/BW) need to address that depression along with other mental health issues is a big factor in why so many of us gain weight and remain overweight. Black ppl have a habit pf scooting mental health issues under the rug b/c we percive it to be "white people mess". Instead of saying to a BW "you need to lose weight", ask if they are ok first.

Not sure why Black women think non-Black men are going to “save” them. White, Asian, Latin, Arab men prefer their own women, Black women are dead last… if Black men uphold white supremacist ideals toward Black women, where do you think they learned it from? 🤔

My narcissistic mother is unfit to raise a dark skin daughter. If she wasn't singling me out as a scapegoat for other psychological reasons, most of her mental abuse tactics was motivated by colorism. Part of the reason she singled me out was because I was dark skin. That I looked exactly like the broad nosed, dark skin man she screwed out of lust to have me. Suffice it to say she was a lighter/brown skin black woman.

Dark skin fat children are TREATED the worse. Especially the daughters. When it’s happening during their development stages that causes stress, which leads to depression, which leads to WEIGHT GAIN. Light skin children are almost always thin because they are loved properly and supported when they ask their parents to do things like cheerleading, basketball or soccer. When dark skin BARELY chubby kids (like I was) asked to be on the softball team I got “what? Why? Can you even run around the field to play?”. So what do that do? Encouraged me as a child to lock myself away and not be active because I was told I was TOO FAT to be active. Completely defeating the purpose of playing a sports in the first place. I’m sure if my mother supported me in my endeavors the way she supported my ONE fckin shade lighter, thinner, younger sister, I’d be an athlete or designer by now. Instead I’m at age 29 still trying to shave of 150 lbs with while having severe depression and anxiety. I’ve never even been in a relationship before because I truly believed her when she said I’ll never be good enough. It’s FATAL telling you dark skin daughters shit like that. Just simply be a PARENT AND SUPPORT HEALTH CHOICES. This can easily be done just by cooking healthy meals from the beginning until they are out of your house. A 5-15 yr old can’t necessarily cook or AFFORD healthy foods. They are children. The parent is at fault for an overweight child and they no it so in turn they lie to these children or abuse them that further cause these kids to grow up and live unhealthy.

@Chrissie Thank so much for creating this YouTube channel! This channel is necessary. Many criticize your channel, but so many more appreciate the information now and will in the future, because you are acknowledging a long standing issue. People try to act like colorism doesn't exist. Every since I was a little girl my mother told me that the world isn't fair, and that I would always have to work harder because I'm dark skin and heavy set. Basically saying that I needed to make sure I spoke well, became educated, and always make sure my appearance is impeccable at all times.

Many of us black people are overweight, obese. POINT BLANK AND YA KNOW IT!! If you are obese and have no risks of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, your labs are normal and your quality of life is not affected then keep doing what you are doing. Your are one of the lucky ones. But if you or a child is huffing and puffing doing normal everyday things then that is a problem.

Being an obese woman myself, I don't always like what I see in the full length mirror and I don't fully accept what my body looks like right now. BUT I am NOW willing to say kinder words TO my body: "This is my stomach", not "my big fat stomach and hate it", but "my stomach which holds and protects my organs".

I am not worried about who the young lady dates. She is a child. I would be more more worried about how negative body image can lead to depression, suicide, eating disorders, etc. I and glad that both mother and daughter are open. Kudos Erica and dad too.

Light skin Black women with a dark skinned daughter. Don't play, I tell her truth all day long. She will remember what I've told her. College degree, take care of yourself. I would never lead her to believe she's equal, it's lies to tell a dark skin young girl something like that. I wish even though I'm slightly lighter than her that someone would have explained that to me. Took me years in adulthood to figure it out. Black women turn 30 ,40 years old. No husband, no house, no success and wonder why and what happened. Where is the prince charming for you that you see all the other races of women with?? That's when( if your smart )you realize what happened. My daughter will be wwwaaaayyy smarter than that if it's within my power. She will know young and secure herself and her future.

Here's the thing, I remember years ago Warren (the father) talking about the kind of women he was attracted to (basically tall skinny and light w/curly hair). So I find it interesting that he married that yet God blessed him a daughter that looks just like him! So how does he now deal w/some little boy telling his daughter "hey, those are my preferences!" the way he did back then! Now he gets to see what words can do..

It's tough talking to young girls about weight. Especially today. Theres always the risk of them taking it the wrong way and going to some extreme. Idk if it's just me but she doesnt really look dark. If shes dark, then what's her father considered?

So now we’re fat shaming children? Yo, your personal insecurities that you constantly try to push onto other black women is really disgusting. Outside of the issue of colorism (which is an issue) the fact that you think that this girl needs to lose weight, in order to gain friends, boyfriends, acceptance is ALL WRONG. You don’t have to be skinny to be healthy, and you don’t have to be skinny to be sexy! That’s what YOU feel like you needed to do to be accepted! Her life is not your life, sis cmon. 🙄

Black men don't have nearly as many platforms or hangups about themselves. The dad is overweight, and extremely dark and he gets what is perceived as a beautiful wife and success. Black women are being constantly beaten on and judged and mislead into believing that they have to change. Everyone else can walk through the door and decide whether they are good enough and change what they think after the fact. Black women are turned around immediately and hurt by each other. It's sad.

Her dad Warren, didn’t take his own advice. When he was looking for a spouse/mate, he didn’t set out for a lady the same complexion as himself. So now, as life would have it, he has to deal with this problem. His daughter has a complex. Unfortunately, this will be a struggle for her, even after the weight loss.
