During the summer (in the UK) I wear SPF 50 all day every day but right now there are only 10 hours of daylight, during which the UV index is 1 at most. What minimum SPF would you recommend for a Scottish winter because I always thought 15 was overkill!

What do you suggest about using toner after fashing our face? Is it necessary?

Hi Dr Dray! Just a heads up – the water mask stinks indeed, and to me it smelled suspiciously like menthol…. I tried it on and my skin immediately felt like it was on fire and made out of ice at the same time and I woke up to red, splotchy irritated skin ๐Ÿ™ I looked into the ingredients and it contains "menthyl lactate" which appears to be a combination of menthol and lactic acid used to add fragrance and cooling effect to the skin. So, not truly fragrance free and something sensitive skin subscribers should keep in mind.

I'm gutted, as I love how it wore and the texture! I'm loving the Hydrating Serum though! This and the Freederm Sensitive Wash you recommended changed my routine and saved my wallet ๐Ÿ˜€

(I'm now slightly obsessed with spotting cheap drug store bargains!)

I was wondering if you would recommend any of the Freederm creams and serums?

I'm keen to add a niancinamide product to my routine for cheap ๐Ÿ™‚

Too bad about the Boswellia Serrata Gum. I have used a different product with boswellia extract (frakinscense) and was very allergic to it. Should not be in a sensitive skin product. But could be good as it's not sold in the US yet.

LOVE the simply pure hydrating serum with ceramides, hyaluronic acid and cholesterol in it! (wish they would include niacinamide) I use it on top of the hydro-boost gel cream. I ditched the olay moisturiser with fragrance. There's an Olay Regenerist fragrance free cream with niacinamide in it which is a nice cream option if I want to switch from the CeraVe PM lotion to the Regenerst cream – which I may do when it gets colder :))

Hi Dr Dray, I went out and bought these products to try after seeing this video and following your channel. I was wondering what you think might be stinging my face in the simply pure leave on mask? I also bought the cerave moisturising creme in the jar and put some on my face that stung too? One I used from kielhs the deep moisture also stings? When I use the clinique dramatically different moisturizer my skin is fine. Anyways, I'm still going to keep using the moisturizers you've recommend because of the good ingredients. I also bought the alterist sunscreen and that was AMAZING!!! Such a steal! Low price and worked on my darker skin colour (first sunscreen in a long time that worked on my skin colour). Anyways thank you so much for all your advice, i have learnt so much about skincare and what ingredients to look for. You have save my wallet and my skin!! I didn't realise the need for sunscreen!!! Anyways thanks a thousand!!! Xx

Hi Andrea, can I use the simply pure hydrating serum as a moisturiser under Epiduo? It has lactic acid in its ingredients and I remember you said that acids and adapalene shouldn't be used at the same time.

Hi Andrea!!! I have stopped watching most YouTubers due to time constraints, but still make time for your content. Thank you! I was wondering if you are still using differin gel and how itโ€™s combining to all the the products you use. I started 12 weeks ago and pushed through the purging process and now I am reaping the benefits and feel so good. As you suggested I used both BP cleanser at night and a Salicylic Acid wash the morning, simple moisturizer and spf of course, now I want to possibly incorporate more serums to my routine- I am very curious about The Ordinary products and was wondering if I can start adding them now, while I break out a lot less now I still need to add anti aging and possibly something to help me with my glow!! Maybe this is a good video idea for you! โ€œAfter 12 weeks on differin, what is next?โ€ Thanks for reading all my comments!

Itโ€™s interesting that you like and rate this range as over here in the UK itโ€™s a bottom shelf range which is kind of seen as really cheap products not worth looking at. Itโ€™s always on buy one get one half price too. Maybe Iโ€™ll check it out next time I see it. Thanks for the review.

Really appreciate you thinking of us here in the UK. I went and bought the cleansing balm, face wash and moisturising serum after your review. I didnโ€™t much care for the balm (it stung my eyes) but the face wash was pretty decent and I LOVED the moisturising serum! Am thinking of substituting aveneโ€™s fragrance free cleansing oil for the balm. Thanks again!

Dr Dray thank you for this. I've been using superdrug active radiant range with Gylcolic which I am loving its gentle but works. However I'd really like your opinion on this: nivea's new sun cream range. I am using this version however there are oil free versions. I have slightly dry (45 yr old skin) so I just use this every day. It really does not have any whiteness after application, and I don't get any stinging which I sometimes getting. I absolutely love it it has transformed my use of spf. It is an spf of 50, however only three stars for UVA rating here. Which I suspect you will think won't be enough. What do you think?

Awesome review Dr. Dray! You are a gift to not only US but the whole world. Not many ppl would care to review products for their overseas fans. Itโ€™s surprising that the cleanser doesnโ€™t have any detergent in it yet it takes off multiple layers of your waterproof mineral sunscreen. I live in the US. Any suggestions on a US facial cleanser that does all that? I would love to skip using oil to dissolve my mineral sunscreen then. Thanks!! ๐Ÿ˜Š

    Hi Dr Dray
I can only comment on the Hydrating Serum (white pump with ceramides). I bought this some time ago, after watching your video that featured it.
    It is suspiciously โ€˜affordableโ€™๐Ÿคจ
…in fact, I would call it a giveaway price!?!
Yet, it is a lovely light fluid that I really enjoy using and I feel has benefitted my skin. I use it both morning & evening – after cleansing and using Neutrogena Hydro Boost. I will shortly start on my second bottle and will continue to use.

I would just like to say, I have been using expensive โ€œqualityโ€ skincare since I was 15yo and I dread to think how much money I have spent on all the different products I have been CONVINCED I โ€˜needโ€™ over the decades!! I admit, I have been fully suckered in with all the hype and marketing tactics, just to end up (usually) with yet another cream that is not really any more effective than all the others.

However, since taking your advice on skincare ingredients and making some small adjustments to my routine, the difference in my skin is
A-mazing!!! My skin feels consistently hydrated, supple and looks dewy.
I am so happy that I have found you on YouTube and I am sharing your info & channel with all of my friends. I appreciate that your advice is helping to SAVE ME MONEY(!!) yet seek out effective products that are proven to work.

    Many, many thanks.
Your help has changed my approach to skincare for life.

I found the cleansing conditioner very gentle. The leave on water mask gives my face an almost cold menthol sensation, not sure why? However I feel this is more jelly than a gel and gives a thicker coverage so less is needed than the neutrogena hydro boost. LOVE both the hydrating serums

From what Iโ€™ve seen of U.K. skincare, theyโ€™re much more likely to remove cleansers with cotton pads or dry, soft wash cloths rather than rinsing with water… I bet thatโ€™s why the cleanser doesnโ€™t say to rinse

Love this! So proud of good old Superdrug. I was spending more than I could afford on La Roche Posay and Simply Pure cleanser is just as gentle and does the job. Itโ€™s also worth noting that this line always seems to be on offer. Either 3 for 2 or buy 1 get 1 half price. Love that itโ€™s got your seal of approval and thanks for explaining the ingredients!
