Nina Thomas, you are beautiful the way you are. Being a medium brown Afro-American, I wished I were darker like Idris Elba or even darker like Wesley Snipes. Being darker is cool, and it would definitely show up my muscle tone and keep me from skin burn by the sun. If I had a choice in the matter, I would certainly choose being dark skin and not light skinned or white. There's nothing wrong with being light skinned or white, it's just not preference. All people who make skin tones an issue or make it a big deal are both ignorant and stupid!

This is like wow ! Skin tone has no moral qualities. Never let someone make you feel less than for your skin tone whether that be from the lightest to the darkest. And your color is so so beautiful.

This is the fault of white supremacy and when they look in the mirror , they see you as the opposite. Wow , so stupid but clever on their part to create a stupid standard to keep you down and unwanted. I just hate when people accept this stupid ideology and pass it down to their kids and siblings. He who oppress me is my devil 👿. Racism and colorism comes from evil inferior people and not God. I love dark skin people – they take my breath away because you don’t get to see them on a daily basis …due to the Europeans standard. When both colors are side by side – you can’t help but admire both but the dark skin to me is more natural … especially in warm climates. So thanks for the video and be happy with yourself …. this thing goes deep and is often embedded deep in our brains … if you think negative stuff all your life , it just doesn’t go away over one conversation … it takes years of positive growth to decrease negative thoughts .. again , thank you

I am Khmer of Cambodia (French colonization change it to Cambodia) or original term Kampuchea. My lineage is Black Asian. I feel that Black is very beautiful and to have high melanin is a gift from the divine. The Dalit of India are Black Asian. Their phenotype is more in the Black phenotype…Black and White are political terms but have huge ramifications.

If we are talking about skin tones we are more brown, but there are melenated folks with blue black skin which was Krishna and Shiva of Indian religion, but try to white washed them. Same with Yeshua or Jesus, he was a man of burnish brown skin and wooly hair, which is a specific description that fits a certain group of people. Even though it may be considered a fairy tale and that the race of God doesn't matter, why was it change from brown to very very pale beings…

I think you are very pretty and what you experienced, dark skinned Khmer people are treated the same. I love how you retain your melanin while living in the midwest depletes my melanin. When I went back to visit my country of birth as a young girl, the physical issues I had with my skin went away. But coming back to the midwest, my skin blew up with bumps again. Urghh.

Anyhow, thank you for sharing your experience.

Wished you didn’t cover up that beautiful blouse or dress with that unsightly jacket. Sorry! 😕

Anyway, I’m truly tired of all the dark skin tone talk. I don’t support bleaching and glad you don’t either. I’ve primarily focused more on my personality and how I treat and how am able to positively interact with people than about skin color. I’m just not that concerned about skin tone only that’s it’s and even skin tone which Indian people like yourself have unlike Black people with our uneven skin tone. When we bleach it’s our attempt to try to even out our skin tone which we will learn won’t work. Most Black people I know are otherwise comfortable in their skin and with their skin color. Our hairs are a while other issue. I will say this much about our hair, we are able to create amazing styles with our hair, natural, relaxed or silk pressed. You obviously don’t seem to have issues with your skin color it’s typically others around us or the brainwashing of society who think a fairer or lighter skin tone is more desirable which is truth in some cases. We darker skinned tone people need to push back and let others know we love our skin color and it’s not an issue for us. When they see that we accept and love our skin tone and our hair texture they may be more accepting of it too. Be as fabulously educated, polite, sexy, confident, dark and beautiful as you want to be. I know I am, no matter who wants to argue otherwise. Be unstoppably you. 😊♥️

Nina, if you bleach your skin you will get winkles very early so please do not get into that skin bleaching because i know in india they promote this sickness…you look very beautiful and Melanin keeps you young and regulates your immune system, pale skin people have many medical problems and skin cancer to UV rays, don't fall into that pale skin crap.

Love this, regarding the comments about dark indian girls with white guys, I have something to say.

Indian men generally go for lighter skinned girls, regardless of how dark they themselves are. As a dark-skinned indian girl, I know our dark skin is not accepted/ considered as beautiful in our own community. However, in other cultures it really is perceived as attractive/sexy (note the words I use) , from my experience this has been in European Countries, USA, as opposed to "browner" countries like those of Asia, Latin america, Carribean etc. So yes, you may see when indians date "out" the girl will likely be dark skinned, but why not? Why would you not date someone who appreciated your skin colour as opposed to someone who suggests you cover it in caked up white foundation?

It's an interesting topic, though this fairer skin complex does come from European Imperialist times; it is white people themselves who appear to be more appreciative of our pigment, in my experience. Black and Indian guys tend to be more attracted to white skin. I guess opposites attract? Just not amongst oppositely coloured indians ha.

How many dark skinned people discriminate against those who are a little more darker or how many of us dark skinned folks feel better when we feel a little lighter skinned? This is the root of the problem. Self hatred! Its all in the mind. The next time you walk out the door try an experiment. Think that today you are going to think dark skin is prettier than light skin. You will be surprised how all of a sudden you start admiring or liking darker skin, the more darker the better. Its all in the psyche.
