NEW! Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude vs Double Wear Light | FOUNDATION REVIEW & COMPARISON

Today I’m sharing my foundation review of the NEW Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Foundation. Since both Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Water Fresh Foundation and Estee Lauder Double Wear Light are natural foundations yet are also supposed to be long wearing foundations, they have a lot in common. Is it worth owning both? Is one long wear foundation better for oily skin than the other? Hopefully this will help clarify things for those of you with combination/oily, sensitive skin like me if you’re also looking for a foundation for mature skin. I hope you enjoy this foundation demo, review and comparison of this new addition to the Estee Lauder Foundation line!

In your video you mention that you find certain BB creams have more coverage and hold better for longer. Which brand of BB cream are you referring to?

You initially inspired me to try Double Wear, so I was excited to try Double Wear Nude since I never had an opportunity to try the Light version. I love the Nude in comparison to the original! I agree its light coverage, but it makes my combo/oily/sensitive skin look even, radiant, and healthy, without clinging to my dry spots. It also doesn't feel like anything on, and doesn't look as "makeupy" on my face – something I prefer for everyday wear. I still will wear the original for days I want medium-full coverage. Wish I got a chance to try the Light, because you give it such praise!

I have never used the Light, but the Nude works great for me. I have super oily skin, and I'm 37 years old. I apply it with a brush, over Tatcha Silk canvas primer, and I set it with translucent setting powder. I can get a good medium coverage, and about 8 hours of good wear time.

I'm a huge fan of ELDW regular. ELDW light I find just okay, but when I tried the nude…let me just say, what a mess! I looked greasy, blotchy, without coverage, textured like crazy and 10 yrs older. Oh, and I felt sticky. It amplified a dry spot I didn't even know I had. It settled and amplified my finest of lines. Perhaps I received a defective sample!? I am happy for those whom this works, of course.

Iโ€™m still not sure what I think about this one.

I have worn DW Light since it came out. Itโ€™s one of my favorite foundations. The original DW has been a go to for special occasions since it came out in the mid – late 1990s. I do typically think of it as a heavier foundation because I wore its predecessor for all my high school chorus shows, dance recitals and proms in the early 90s. It will forever be a heavier foundation in my mind, even if I sheer it out. My chorus teacher drove the importance of steaming our faces and plunging them in an ice bath to close our pores before applying our heavier foundations and it stuck. I start filling up a bowl of ice the moment I hear the words Double Wear.

Iโ€™ve not played around with DWN enough, yet. It looks great everywhere but in the t-zone, and I have sensitive, normal – combo skin that will usually lean more toward dry than oily. It depends on the time of year. It seems to settle a bit and wear off quickly in my t zone.

Iโ€™m going to keep playing with it and use a water based primer but Iโ€™m meh about it so far.

** I do want to like it. I am a sheer – medium coverage person. The only thing I used to wear on a routine basis was Cliniqueโ€™s City Block mineral SPF. I think it was SPF 15 when it originally came out but I used it like a tinted moisturizer for years.

first video I see of yours, we are the same shade and skin type. finally! haha I found someone like me. I will try out the light, never thought I would. I love the original double wear, I moisturize and use the hourglass primer and it works great, sometimes I do get it stuck on dry spots but it's workable.

Hi Stephanie, I am your new subscribers. Your reviews are so helpful. I have just purchased the EL double wear nude cushion stick, then I saw your video, I am thinking should I switch it to the ELDW light? Have you ever tried that cushion stick? And also in general, which brand of the foundation do you recommend most (the high end ones)? Thank you

Great review, I am hoping Estee Lauder does not discontinue the Double Wear Light foundation, It's a staple of mine and also the regular DW foundation in the shade Toasty Toffee. I have mature, oily skin as well, I am in my 40's and the Double Wear Light in Intensity #4 is my most used foundation. I am not so eager to try the new Double Wear Nude ftn

I absolutely love DW!! I also have DW Light and I like it too, but not as well as DW. I got a sample of the DW Nude Water Fresh and I HATED IT!!!! I couldn't even stand to leave it on all day. Like you, I'm wondering why EL put this foundation in the DW line.

the foundation creasing and breaking down (and lifting when you blot) throughout the day could be that you are using a water-based foundation over a silicone primer. silicone primers creates a slippy barrier so foundation glides on. I couldn't find the ingredients list for the DW Nude foundation online, but the DW Light although water is the first ingredient, does have at least 10 ingredients ending in -cone or -siloxane which are silicones. from what i've read and heard from makeup artists, a water-based foundation will not play nice on top of a silicone-based primer, but a silicone-based primer can work with water-based primer

I like this foundation but it is not a double wear. DW light is a holy grail category for me for my favorite long lasting foundation. I have Normal dehydrated skin and an oily nose. I just use my concealer for my nose and then this for the rest of my face and it did good for an everyday wear. I have a feeling I'm going to love this when the weather is cooler and my dry patches are back.

It is definitely not a 24 hour foundation for oily combo skin. The first day I wore this I felt as you do. I got a sample of EL daywear matte moisturizer and used that underneath the foundation and then I loved it! Had to blot once or twice.

Great review! Sounds like a lot of oil for little coverage. I wonder if you got a sample in the next shade up if you'd get better coverage and maybe feel different. I know when it's sheer & too light that the coverage appears greatly reduced because the product pigments don't blend in with your skin tone and therefore don't appear to cover or even. I hope that makes sense.
