I'm 64. Beware of Ulta! Four years ago in the store to purchase new foundation for my older skin. The young woman who assisted me talked me into several products, Laura Geller foundation primer (Spackle of all the names?) to fill in wrinkles prior to foundation. Foundation, an expensive brush, serum and a few other items. Lots of $ and different brands. Now I’m no rube but I fell for their act. When the gal was showing me a product and another associated walked by she would point and say “I love that!” or “That stuff is so great!” At home I went through the entire regimen and everything sunk into my wrinkles. I don’t have a lot of deep lines but it found even the tiniest ones. I looked like I was a badly aged 80. Then I remembered that I noticed a few times that same routine between associates but the clincher was a few years before an associate was showing a woman two TIGI short hair finishing waxes. I’d used both, pointed to one and said “I love that stuff.” The associated turned around to smile at me but then looked a little bewildered. It’s a trick ladies!

Ariane Poole Face tint is £30 and the it Cosmetics Cc cream is £31 in the UK, still a bit pricey.

The thing about SPF in foundation is that you don't actually get that protection unless you use enough of the product ( like 11 pumps) and keep that much on throughout the day. If you did this you would, A. Look insane and B. Run out of product in around 2 weeks. Very misleading..

I absolutely love your videos. You are so truthful about your makeup reviews. It is lovely to see someone nearer my age range talking about makeup tips and not someone who is in their 30s who say they are talking about mature skin. Keep it up and thank you xxx

finally a mature woman doing a makeup video for mature women. Your makeup looks great. I recently tried to go back to an old favorite from my 30's (I am 63 now) Clinique, and was very disappointed. I went to a Dillards near where I live so that I could try the product before buying. The lighting was so bad I really couldnt see how terrible the finish was. $38.00 later I am hoping to return it and try an alternative. I asked the salesperson if they made a foundation specifically for older skin. It sank into my wrinkles and had almost a vaseline feeling on my skin. Just terrible, time and money wasted. I am so tired of trying to find a good foundation. I will try some of your suggestions. thanks.

Thank you for the advice, your complexion is always beautiful. I use the IT in the summer when I am going to be outside for over 10 minutes at a time. Great whether gardening or at outdoor events for sun protection. I have also used the Max Factor from time to time and the Loreal too, mostly in the winter when I do not need as much sun protection. Good choices!

Hi Margaret- I am 63 andusing part of a snow day to become familiar with your videos. I currently use the IT CC Cream- light and like it very much. I do find however that my forehead and other parts have more light reflective shine than I care for. Although I have heard that I should not use face powder on my mature skin, I do use a little of this Photo finishing powder by a company called Motives by Loren Ridinger, I believe. Do you have any recommendations on how to deal with too much shine? Also, do you think I need to use moisturizer before the CC cream. I currently do. Perhaps that is helping to create the shine.

Hi Margaret. The IT CC is not inexpensive if you buy the full size. The trial size is less than $20 US. I don't care for the strong grapefruit scent. I've been using MAC Face and Body which has a great finish but is sheer. Also good is the Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting which offers more coverage. Both the MAC and Clinique are moderately priced. Not cheap, but not budget busting. For a splurge, a good one is Clarins Skin Illusion. I also love Bobbi Brown except her foundations have too much lavender oil and it burns my eyes. A good drugstore one is the Neutrogena serum foundation but it is quite sheer.

I'm with you on being frugal. But I do splurge on IT foundation and the little tube of concealer and sometimes the creme foundation that comes in a compact. The tube of IT at my local Ulta is not under $20 – it's $38 USD, or about that. I squirt a bit of the It liquid from the tube right into the cream container and then blend them together with the provided little pad. It lasts a long time for me. I use ELF or cheaper brands for cheeks and cheaper things for eye color and lips. Ulta has some nice store-brand lip butters, etc. and Burt's Bees has some nice lipsticks that feel great and come in good colors. Thanks for sharing your time with us!

I’m in the US, 66, with combination skin (dry cheeks & sides, somewhat oily T-zone) that’s fair & sensitive.

I really like Bare Minerals’ Complexion Rescue CC cream in Opal 01, or Nars Tinted Moisturizer in Alaska. Both are SPF 30. I apply both with a special plush domed brush made for BB/CC creams, which keeps my fingers clean and hands off my face (no need for a blending tool). I also use Nars Radiant creamy concealer in Vanilla to lighten the darker portion of my undereye circles and cover redness around the nostrils and a spider vein or two. I use a flat concealer brush for that.

I have tried actual “foundations" (even the original Bare Minerals powder in Fairly Light), but they cover a bit too heavily for me and settle into & emphasize pores. I find itCosmetics CC+ to be a bit too opaque, and Laneige cushion in Light seems artificial and a bit too warm-ish. Max Factor products aren't available any more in the States, at least not in brick & mortar stores.

So you live in Switzerland? Must be crazy-expensive. Three nights in Lausanne cost me more than a week in Paris or midtown Manhattan!

Many of these are not available in Canada like Catrisse, max factor, Mary Ann pool… IT cosmetics are available but wow this brand is expensive in Canada. Is IT CC cream under 20.00 where you live?

I am currently using the "it" foundation. I've recently moved to Florida and I'm very sun-sensitive. I went into Ulta and asked for a foundation with a high SPF. I really like it. I still put sunscreen on my neck, arms, etc,. but, if I'm in a real hurry, I know that the "it" foundation has some protection from the sun.

Can't remember the last time I wore foundation. I'm a darker-skinned Latina (somewhere between toast & caramel) who has difficulties finding the correct color match, without having to mix 2 shades. Most make me look ashy, even those in "neutral" undertones. Luckily I have a fairly even skin tone with few lines or wrinkles at age 62 😁. But would like to look more polished for special occasions without breaking the bank. I've wasted so much money looking for my Holy Grail. I give up!
