Great information shared here. Thank you. Amazing the effect that subtle changes in the radius setting/map can have on the overall look of the skin.

Hey man, great tut thanks for sharing this valuable info.
One question: any ideas how i can make two layers of specular maps? One is on top of the other. I have two specular maps one is going to be on certain areas on the outer part of the skin and the other is kind of specific to certain areas as well. Please help

Great tutorial! I'm working on a scene where the red color in my Radius channel appears greenish blue in render, especially around thin areas like finger tips. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance!

Hi thanks for the video! Can you please explain more thoroughly what the single scatter map is? You said its the representation of a single scatter event, Is it a greyscaled diffuse? It looked almost like there was light baked in as the screen left side of her face was darker in that map. Would love to hear clarification on how to create that map properly ๐Ÿ™‚

how do you add microdisplacement if you are using a normal map plugged into the Normal Camera slot of the aiStandard shader? Sorry if this is obvious to some people, I am new to this renderer

So on the Arnold website it says that for the SSS Radius for skin to use a color contribution of Red=1, Green= .35 and Blue= .2 so I'm just curious as to why you used a dark red instead?

MY QUESTION IS HOW YOU TEXTURE WHOLE CHARACTER? DO YOU ASSIGN A SHADER FOR EACH PART? IF YES! SO IS IT MAKES RENDERING TOO HEAVY?

Blender has had an SSS setup like this for years now. It's wild to see an industry standard like Arnold employ the same methods.

When I use a saturated red and orange map the sss radius the color that renders in the sss is more blue. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I used pretty much this exact workflow with my own painted maps.
