Meet The Ghanaian Women Who Are Fighting Skin Bleaching
The global skin whitening industry will be worth more than $20 billion by 2018. But in Ghana, some women are battling the social pressure on dark-skinned girls to bleach. Filmmaker Comfort Arthur shows us some of the products and images that are marketed to women, and she tells us why society’s message to dark-skinned young women needs to change.

I love the natural beauty.
My home country ๐๐
Yes they need to fight this and heavily fine the pushers of this dangerous product.
Im very thankful for this lady.
Colorism is not the invention of White people. Ancient Egyptians portrayed their women lighter than men. Japanese Geishas were painted White.
I'm a Ghanaian and I've never heard that white man saying. Is it only me? That saying is not popular our generation don't know of it.
This practice and industry has to end! This belief needs to be overturned. We must relearn to love our skin, our people, our culture, of history, our ancestors. Ultimately we must decolonize our minds, bodies, and societies. #DeColonizeYourSelf
And wigs?
You have two beautiful accents.,both British and Ghanaian accent..

Someone asked me are all my children light skinned like me? I replied no they are Skittles pop and I love every last one of my 5 Skittles. That was a black person who questioned me. Smh.
Channels like these i want to see more of.
African are the children of Israel and need to appreciate who they are why the hell would you want to take away your beautiful melanin and leaves us with all pale women….
Why don't they fight about having sex because people get many disease and die. Let them at that important thing first.HIV is through sex so what they mean they can't see that.
Fight the color bias, sisters and brothers. Dark skin are beautiful.
So these women never read what the man they call Christ looked like? Hair like lamb's wool, feet as burned brass. Man the conditioning is real!

They just dont know it causes skin cancer in a few years. I hope they are saving their money for medical expenses and a burial plan, because they just purchased a first class ticket to DEATH…….
Except who God created and that's YOU!
Stop letting the dominated society dictate your existence.
Being Black is Beautiful…………..
Except it, Live it and Embrace it!!!!!!
"I like feeling like a queen?" With fake hair and skin lightning. Wow these women are stupid imagine what their daughters or sons think. I would never date these stupid women. You broke but you spend your money to look non African. Ok got it.
If you love your skin you love your skin leave other people alone
Africans we are dark and beautiful. I would never change my skin color for anything
I'm beautiful… I'm black ๐
Dark has always been beautiful look at these ladies who take care of their dark skin looks beautiful itโs very smooth
It's wonderful to see her loving her skin. It's sad that most want what they can't have. For example, I'm very pale due to some Celtic heritage I have. I would love to be black, Indian coloured/ Arabic coloured or Olive skinned! In the past I've felt so much pressure to have tanned skin. I really damaged my skin on my hands when I was in most of my teens from deliberately burning my self repeatedly, as I felt like an outsider where all my family tan and because of the pressure from the media. Now every winter my hands chap and bleed lots when it's cold from all the sun damage and they look like old lady hands when I'm only in my early twenties
Lighten my chocolate brown skin? And have the people miss out on it? Oh honey, no!
I love Ghanian woman, their real color and the way they are. They are unique ๐
One love from India ๐โ
