How to Draw Male Lips and Paint Skin Tones
Hi there. I know it’s been a while, but I’m back with another video. Male lips can be tough to paint especially, because it’s hard to get them to not look like the guy is wearing lipstick. In this video I show my approach to make lips look manly!
Tools:
SketchBook Pro 2011
Adobe Photoshop CS3
Wacom Intuos3 12×9
Camtasia Studio

1:02 O-OH, HELLO BART
sycra…..you definitely dont suckra lol these were good tips
Do you have video on how to shade faces for beginners?
i hate you 🙂
I use to be a art student and took lots of art classes. I can never draw like you
i love your technique <3 thank you !!
You did all that in four minutes(maybe about 10 for the eyes and everything else?) and I'm here spending weeks on one piece that looks waaay worse that this. ;___;
how is this process different for males versus women who aren't wearing make-up?
Butt kicking awesome video dude! Thank you so much.
it does helps alot ^.^ thanks sycra <3
You're the greatest Sycra.
This helped me a lot, thank you very much! 🙂
1:20 looks like a JoJo character
Si hubiera dibujado el menton mas circular y la nariz menos perfecta, habria dibujado a 4 de la película divergente c=
It is fantastic! Especially that part, where you add the first lights and shades to the head. It literally carves it out of the background with so minemalistic, but perfectly placed strokes. It's just a pity you didn't do it in Krita, already. 😉 Thank you for the lesson!
He mentioned softening the lines, or edges to make it more realistic, how does he do that?
that was very helpful thank tou very much sir
Which brush are you using for painting all over? Some kind of Hard Round?
Thank you, I've been fucking up things on the skin for so long now, this really helped me out!
I. Fucking. Love you
Thanks! This video helped a lot! Now I know how to draw the male lips
Thanks for your tutorial. I felt like it helped bring my drawings to the next level in realism. I used gray-scale and then tinted instead of trying to guess my way through coloring :3. It looks ten times better although I still need a lot more practice. I don't feel like my edges or values are quite accurate. Anyway! Thanks!
Made this after I watched your tutorial:

Compared to the face here before using your method:

1:20 hahahaha what a pretty boy 😀
the flow and opacity are a hundred percent but when he paints over the first color, it gets darker ._. how?
would someone kindly tell me what program he's using ? and where to get it?
ugh..i don't know why but I just can't understand colours
really helpful stuff.. thanks!!! 😀
Welp. My mind is blown. This is amazing. Subscribed!
do a video on what background texture to use on the skin, how do you avoid airbrushing the skin and it ending up looking smooth as glass?
Thx sycra, helped slot
Thank you, you post wonderful videos. One question (I hope it isn't too silly) you said that the colour gets more blue/green in the hair areas. That makes sense and covers the beard area in men. But what about women? Does the colour get (very slightly) more blue in the 'beard' area or doesn't it effect women at all?
Thanks for this video Sycra, it's helped quite a lot.
One question, would it be possible to share out a psd that shows that colour layer you do? I'm still struggling a bit with where to break up colours on the face and I'd love to study that colour layer you did to see the actual colours you were laying down on top of it. It can be all too easy to not see the subtleties of you're colour choices for someone trying to learn.
Thanks for all the excellent videos again, you're way of explaining things has really helped push my art skills a lot this year.
Sorry for the dumb question but I'm new to drawing. What did you mean by getting the values right? Is it something I can do with sketchbook pro or do I need PhotoShop? I noticed you switched from one to the other.
So did you go over your sketch with a bigger brush to soften your lines?
