You can really tell when a so called make up artist has not done a make up course and just wings it and tries to blame it on lighting and products used

So just to let everyone know I am the artist responsible for this make up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But what I want you to know is I had no control over the lighting, products or model. I literally turned up on the day and had to make this work with the limited resources and time I had. There were no practice runs. No time to get products I knew would work better on black skin.
Any everyone bugging out on me calling my beautiful model black. That's the terminology we use in the UK. It's not that serious. I'm black too. Lol

The model is brautiful and her skin is so flawless that i dont see any difference when she applied the foundation! Other than that the makeup is horrible and not blended at all.. she could do better!

I liked the makeup for a no makeup makeup look. It would've been better if she was highlighted to e glowing on her wedding day and brighter eyes that pop

Lol she looks the same. THE SAME. This tutorial is a perfect example of how frustrating it is to deal with people that don't understand deep dark skin. (White people make us look like ghosts, and black people make us look like we just put on moisturizer. Lol.) I have the model's complexion, and it's like everyone is so afraid of playing with different color foundations, because they're so concerned about "accepting that beautiful black skin tone"….and the moment u try to help them out by suggesting a lighter tone, they look at you like you hate yourself. NOOO.

In order to do dark-skinned makeup, you have to understand the complexity and concerns unique to dark skin, and yes, we do have concerns that are unique to our side of the color spectrum. 1) LIGHTING. It is EVERYTHING when it comes to dark skin. We have to be cognizant of that, because it affects the way both cameras and the naked eye registers our features. Are we going to be basking in the sun, or are we going to be in a dimly lit hall? Our color looks AMAZING when we just do our makeup, but in pictures we look wack. Why? Because we were putting on makeup in the best lighting ever, which never reflects what we will look like outside. 2) Dimension. Dark skin is beautiful. But the main issue with it is that literally everything we know about the face and beauty is based upon contrast. Eyebrows can make or break a face. Beautiful eye makeup can do wonders for someone. The purpose of makeup is to enhance our features, and it's done by increasing the contrast of colors on the face. YOU CAN'T DO THIS IF EVERYTHING IS DAMN NEAR THE SAME COLOR.

Many makeup techniques were formulated for lighter skinned people. At the opposite end of the spectrum, you have to invert a lot of techniques. The main focus of doing makeup on dark skin should be highlighting. Highlighting doesn't mean "I want to be lighter skinned" but it's a way for darker skinned people to enhance their features. A great way to think of it is: if the model were to be standing at a distance, you should be able to make out the basic features of her face, ESPECIALLY when she's going to be wearing white, of all colors, which always grabs the focus of modern-day cameras, and oftentimes mutes dark faces. Why do u think black-skinned models were so popular? We enhance certain colors, but often is at the expense of muting ourselves. Makeup should do the opposite. Ok, rant over.

There could've been a more notable difference between the before and after pics. I'm all for a natural look but for a big occasion like your own wedding you really could look more flawlessly 'made-up' and not just like she put on a little bronze eyeshadow and nothing more, cuz that's how the after pic looks.

its not that serious. there black people theres white people and indians are called brown people. the title has nothing to do with the shade of your skin. its a title given for your race. stop making things difficult, you're black. Caucasian people are called white. your hung up on something petty.
