I have pregnancy related melasma in the same area you do, so I feel ya girl!!! I use a red lipstick (Colorpop love life matte lippie stick to be specific) and blend out, then top with the Urban Decay naked skin color correcting concealer in yellow. Seems to work but I definitely want to try just a salmon cream concealer like you suggested

I have a large patch of melasma over my left cheek (just the one cheek lol). But mine showed up around puberty age, so probably also hormone-based. The best thing I have found to cover it is the Mac long wear concealer, which I press on in layers with a sponge. I like it because its very light weight and dries very smooth and doesn’t rub off. However, I still find that you can see it a bit through the makeup and it looks kind of grey. Did you find that with any of the makeups you tried? If the foundation you used in this video covers completely, I may try it out!

I just saw your video and its 4 years old so I guess I am very late to comment. I also had melasma from my pregnancie. The one thing I used that helped tremendously was using apple cider vinegar. It made all my spots disappear. Now, this won't be an overnight thing. I had to keep at it and I did and over the course of months they cleared up. It smelled but it was well worth it.

Finally! I can’t wait to try this foundation. I’m always shocked at how mean people can be. That’s why I pledge my undying devotion to you. If you had been scared off I wouldn’t have a chance to deal with my own Vitiligo issues. And you wouldn’t have 2 palettes with your name on them. Haha 😁😍👏♥️

Thank you for your vulnerability! In my 30s my hormones went out of wack and my skin payed the price for it. Hyperpigmentation and acne have definitely taken a toll on my confidence of going anywhere without makeup. Videos like these are the ones I value the most. Thank you!

Emily! I’m in a hurry so I didn’t get to watch your whole tutorial AKA my awesome blessing!! I know you uploaded it more than 4 years ago, you may not get notified of comments anymore? I have medium green toned olive skin. In summer I get more of my mom’s coloring, she was Bengali Eastern Indian and in winter I go lighter and get a little more of my dad’s skin tone he was English. I got his bad eyesight and her great cheekbones but her hyperpigmentation and melisma!
It is hard enough to find concealer, foundations and powders that are the correct “tone” for my skin coloring but my biggest challenge has been “ how do I cover the intensely dark melasma spots clustered on both cheekbones on my skin which is considerably lighter? And when I don’t cover it they show thru looking like I have bruising?? My own husband asked me one day if I had gotten hurt and had a black eye!
I must have 30 concealers various brands, shades types from pots, wands, sticks “super strength, extreme double duty”, you name it, from cheap to ultra luxe and nothing has ever worked. Recently I went to an esthetician to get a peel to see if I could chemically remove them, but having Lupus she wouldn’t agree to doing anything aggressive. I’m grateful now since I doubt it would have gotten rid of the melasma.
I want to tell you how beautiful you are with NOTHING on your face! You look 12! Such beautiful skin, and well taken care of. Based on the comment under mine I understand people have made cruel remarks to you…I have hyperpigmentation on my knees from falls because of my health. I was at a female Rheumatologist visit, she saw my knee’s and said “ What’s wrong with your knee’s, it looks like you’ve been scrubbing floors all day” a Johns Hopkins Rheumatologist who knew exactly what hyperpigmentation was said that intending to hurt me. People can have evils spirits, but they can’t rob us of our kindness…
Thank you Emily, you used the knowledge you’ve gained from your challenges to successfully “blend” into a judgemental world and chosen to share them with so many of us who were not successful in finding the wonderful formula you have. I am really excited to try the Estée Lauder product, and really happy to know I can stay in a shade that matches my normal skin tone. I know I’ll have to adjust, that the product will be heavier than I am accustomed to, but we have to compromise in order to get that coverage we need.
If you do read this, please know there ARE people who see the heart and character and you ARE gorgeous inside and out melasma showing or covered. Blessings, Sharmila

I am so glad I found this video! I never had one second of morning sickness and maybe two tiny stretch marks.. however, after my second child, I didn't recognize my face in the mirror anymore. It has not gone away, after seven years. I never needed foundation before and I've been searching the wrong words (I know now), I've been watching videos on covering dark circles and acne and redness… None of which helped me. So here I am, a 40 year old makeup-dummy! But tonight I changed my word search and found you! I'm so grateful! I cannot wait until morning to go shopping for that amazing foundation, some concealers and brushes… Thank you! 😭 PS-you are beautiful with or without your makeup! Mine is a complete mask from my jaw line to my forehead, outlining my lips and eyes 😭 ❤️ Keep doing you, girl! 👍🏼😍
